Very truly, I tell you, whoever believes has eternal life.  John 6:47

 

•  These words were spoken by Jesus (see the context). What must “whoever” believe? 
• If Jesus speaks, God is speaking, for Jesus is God in the person of the Son. If Jesus speaks, how are we to receive his words? (See Matthew 4:3-4) 
• Jesus makes a promise in this statement: “whoever believes has eternal life.” How does he emphasize the importance and the truth of this statement? 
• Some people call the promise of eternal life “pie in the sky.” What do you think the promise of eternal life means?
