  • This verse expresses a distinction that marks Christians and makes them anathema to secular thinkers. What is that difference?
  • Secular thinkers believe that only what can be measured scientifically exists. When I told a secular thinker that Christ dwells in me, in the person of the Holy Spirit, he countered by saying that he had an invisible pet dragon, too. What would you say in response to that claim?
  • At Jesus’ baptism, Mark says that the Holy Spirit “fell into” him. Later, when Jesus began to preach, Mark quotes him as saying, “The kingdom of God has come near.” Can you go near to someone and say, “The kingdom of God has come near?” Why?
  • Secular thinkers actually believe that it is possible to separate the sacred from the secular. They believe that you can park your faith in the church building and leave it there, operating outside that building in a secular manner. Can you actually do that? Why? Or Why not?

      1. Thank you. I have not gotten to work much either, since I do not know how to put the HTLM codes in my blog.
        I had a blog last year, where I wrote all basic christianity for my Muslim friends on face book. i was tired of explaining the trinity and born again 10x a day. so I set up a blog and referred them there to read all about what they were asking, than get back to me.
        I would like to make active links, but don’t know how either.

  2. Awesome and thought provoking! You are right, but Christians are secular thinkers also, especially in USA. I pray for secular Christians every time I meet one and that is daily. They waste so much time blending in to the world, copying the world, listening to ear tickling teaching, while we have the power of our creator in us to be different!!! – peculiar I guess God calls us.

    1. I actually always hope that I secular thinkers, Christian or otherwise, are among my readers. You are right that many Christians have absorbed the notion that the world is divided into sacred and secular. For Christians, it is all sacred. We are indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and that means that everywhere is sacred.
