• The psalmist asks God for understanding. In so doing, he acknowledges that he cannot understand everything on his own. He needs help. How is this different from secular thinking?
• If the psalmist needs God’s help to understand God’s Law, what does that say about human ability to solve human problems?
• The global picture is not pretty. Militant Islam, massive droughts and starvation, ebola unleashed, imperialism manifest in the Ukraine conflict. How is a human being to approach such monumental problems? Where do humans find hope to understand and solve such problems?
• The president of the United States has expressed no humility before God when he declares that he will make ISIS a “manageable problem.” What does he need to do if he is to have any hope of achieving his stated goal?
