Anybody can fill up a page with words. However, if the reader finds no value in the first fifty words he reads, he is unlikely to read further. What’s more, if the reader discerns that the sentences are carelessly constructed, or the argument is developed without regard to flow or logic, the reader will likely tell everyone about the pitiful book you wrote.
If you want to put your best foot forward, you need an editor. If you are a Christian writer who wants to add to the volume of high quality Christian writing in the marketplace, then you need an editor. Even editors need editors, because none of us likes to criticize our own work. My work looks good to me, even when it needs a good deal of polishing, and yours looks good to you. If you are ready for an editor, please submit a sample of 1000 words in a Microsoft Word document formatted as follows:
- 1″ margins on all sides
- portait orientation
- 8 1/2″ X 11″ paper size
- Times New Roman 12 pt font
- Header — Manuscript Title
- Footer — Author name, date submitted and page number
Attach this document to your email using the subject line [author_name/manuscript name/sample.
In your email, please provide the following information:
- Author Name
- Manuscript title
- Genre
- Total word count of the manuscript
Send your manuscript sample to katherine@katherineharms.com. I will review it and respond with a total price and a timeline for the work along with my next available work date.
My terms are half the contract amount to be paid at the time you submit the complete manuscript and half to be paid when the edit is complete. Payment is due upon receipt of the invoice. Payment on time and in full entitles you to contact me with any questions and concerns as you work the edit. No questions or concerns will be addressed while payment is delinquent. In invoice and receive payments via PayPal only.
